Covered Conductor

Covered conductors are essential components in the construction and maintenance of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. These products are designed to safely and efficiently transmit electrical power from the main supply to various outlets, fixtures, and appliances. Our comprehensive range of wires and cables ensures reliability, safety, and compliance with international standards.

Our covered conductors are engineered with high conductivity to ensure efficient power transmission. They are well-insulated to prevent electrical hazards and are available in various sizes and types to suit different applications. Each product complies with international standards for safety and performance.

Applications

● Residential: Used for wiring homes, including lighting, outlets, and appliances.
● Commercial: Suitable for offices, retail spaces, and public buildings, providing robust and efficient electrical distribution.
Industrial: Designed for factories, warehouses, and other industrial settings, offering durability and high performance under demanding conditions.

Covered conductor Construction

Covered conductor are constructed with the following key components:
● Conductor: Typically made from high-quality aluminum, aluminum alloy, all aluminum conductor, all aluminum alloy conductor, aluminum conductor steel reinforced, or aluminum-clad steel, providing excellent electrical conductivity and mechanical strength.
● Insulation:  Materials such as HDTRXLPE (high-density track-resistant cross-linked polyethylene), XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene), or HDPE (high-density polyethylene) are used to insulate the conductors, ensuring electrical safety and durability.
Sheathing: Additional protective layers, such as HDTRXLPE, XLPE, or HDPE, are applied to some cables to provide mechanical protection and enhanced safety in case of fire.

Standard

ICEA S-70-547

1. Title: Standard Specification for Weather-Resistant Polyethylene Covered Conductors
2. Scope: This standard applies to the materials, constructions, and testing of weather-resistant thermoplastic and cross-linked polyethylene covered conductors, rated for 75°C or 90°C normal service temperature. These conductors are intended primarily for the distribution of electrical energy under normal conditions of overhead (aerial) installations and service outdoors. This standard does not cover track-resistant coverings or constructions.

BS EN 50397-1

1. Title: Covered Conductors for Overhead Lines and the Related Accessories for Rated Voltages Above 1 kV AC and Not Exceeding 36 kV AC, Part 1: Covered Conductors
2. Scope: This document contains the requirements for covered conductors with or without integrated longitudinal water tightness and/or semi-conductive conductor screen for applications in overhead lines with rated voltages U above 1 kV AC and not exceeding 36 kV AC.

AS/NZS 3675

1. Title: Covered Conductors for Overhead Power Lines
2. Scope: This standard covers the construction, performance, and testing of covered conductors used in overhead power lines. It ensures the covered conductors meet safety and reliability standards suitable for the Australian and New Zealand environments.
