What types of tests are done on cables?

1. Type Tests (Design Approval Tests)
Type tests are performed to prove that a cable design meets international standards before mass production.
They are usually done once for a specific cable design and include tests such as:

● Fire resistance tests

2. Routine Tests (Production Line Tests)
Routine tests are carried out on every single manufactured cable or drum during production.
They ensure there are no manufacturing defects and typically include:

● Visual inspection
These are essential for ensuring consistent quality in mass production.
3. Sample Tests (Batch Verification Tests)
Sample tests are conducted on randomly selected cables from a production batch.
They are more detailed than routine tests and may include:

● Flame retardancy tests
These tests confirm the overall quality consistency of a production batch.
4. Special Tests (Application or Customer-Specific Tests)
Special tests are carried out based on customer requirements or specific application environments.
They may include:
● Water tree resistance tests
● UV resistance tests
● Chemical corrosion resistance tests
● Low smoke and toxicity testing
● Extreme temperature performance tests
These tests ensure the cable is suitable for special or harsh environments such as mining, offshore, or renewable energy projects.
